Winterization Guidelines

During winter months, outdoor chemical application equipment is often unused and left outside or put into storage.

If the weather or storage environment is going to be near freezing (32° F), your system MUST be properly winterized to avoid cracked and/or broken pumps, valves and lines.

Water Driven Systems
1. Detach the chemical pick up tubes and place in water. Turn on the water and draw fresh water for a few seconds to clear out any chemical residue in the check valve.
2. Turn off water at main source and disconnect it.
3. Remove the chemical pick up tubes from the unit.
4. Turn on the water ball valve.
5. Open discharge ball valve as if you were applying chemical.
6. Lay the hose out on ground, start at the unit and elevate the hose as you work your way to the end of the hose to drain all liquid out of the hose. Do this a couple of times.
7. You can now reattach the chemical tubes or store them for the winter.
Compressed Air Driven Systems
1. Detach the chemical pick up tubes and place in water. Turn on the air and draw fresh water for a few seconds to clear out any chemical residue in the check valve and pump.
2. Remove the chemical pick up tubes from the unit.
3. Turn on the air and let the pump discharge the liquid left in the pump.
4. Turn off the air and disconnect the air line.
